- Lake effect clouds on the Great Lakes in fall
- W895232Z
- Lake effect. Very cool, dry, but unstable air overlays the warm waters of the Great Lakes in fall. Numerous updrafts are forming Cumulus clouds of all sizes, with a few showers and lines of larger towers embedded in the busy scene. Turbulent mixing brings gusty winds down to the surface to form clear gaps in the restless sky.
